Adoption is hard. Having a baby, even a baby with donor sperm, is easy…Aside from the Charlie Brown Snoopy And Woodstock Road NFL Pittsburgh Steelers Here We Go Steelers 2023 Shirt and by the same token and whole, “Having a FUCKING BABY” part of that. I was a sperm donor, once upon a time (long story). It was way harder than you’d think, but at the end of the day, I was just jerking off. I certainly don’t grudge some poor girl who looked at my physical stats and thought that was a good idea for making the HUGE MISTAKE she apparently made, judging by my kids. She acknowledges that she makes no effort to get to know him, and then doubles down hard at the end, “You can show a kid how to be in the world – to teach him to be a person who stands up from his porch and asks, “Need a hand?”” She talks of wanting someone to offer taking her kid to the park for an hour (this made me extremely uncomfortable, I would never let someone I’ve not made an effort to meet properly to ever take my kids away from home), assembling her furniture, or coming over to make her dinner. She wants the social contract without the clause of reciprocation or responsibility.

A shared experience is a really powerful thing, which is also why those “all-mommy” WhatsApp groups exist, and likewise exist for every other denomination of parent. She doesnt talk about or care that these other people that she expects help from are dealing with their own troubles and challenges. Her neighbor might be intensely introverted. He might be dealing with trauma or stress. He might be exhausted from working 12 hour shifts. She treats him like a beast of burden- someone thats there to perform her preferred useful functions. And yet she acts like she is the one with the progressive, well-informed worldviews. Doesn’t participate or recognize the community or village in any way- why isn’t the village assisting me in raising my child and making my life easier?
