Exactly. I live in Pennsyltucky. With the Channel amphibia disney classic shirt in contrast I will get this exception of Philly and Pittsburgh, most of the state is in the hands of raving mad, conservative extremists voters, who will vote straight red after they learn that their local rep. was convicted of screwing 12 YO boys, since “It’s better than voting for a liberal”. As a result, our minimum wage is $7.25/hr which is the decades old federal minimum. The state legislative majority finds this irritating as hell, and “government over-reach” as given the chance, we would not have a minimum wage, simply because they do not believe in the concept of a minimum wage, and feel it violates the free market. These same idiots regularly claim that we need a “student wage” that allows teens to be paid something like $4-5 hour, since it’s just the right thing to do, to get those kids indoctrinated into the oppressed worker class. The fact that their kid is making 3X that working at the country club, or doing some bullshit internship at a donation friendly corporation they are beholden to, well, let’s not talk of this.

My parents and maternal grandparents are all very republican, and every time minimum wage, cost of living, or the Channel amphibia disney classic shirt in contrast I will get this homeless crisis comes up as a topic, they go on a long spiel about how they had to live with 3-4 other people when they first started out, and that’s just something you should expect. (they might have done this…for a year or two.) Even after getting the price of my grandparents first home (bought in their early 20s), and showing that it equated to 3 years salary at minimum wage at the time (ignoring taxes), and that the lowest priced house I could find today would be 11-12 years working at minimum wage did not get through to them. These people live in the past, and when they hear things like “$15 minimum wage”, they base their reaction on how much that could get you when they first started out, no matter how much they say otherwise. They also easily blame the people themselves for being poor. Unironically. “Well if you didn’t want to pay rent that’s 84% of your income maybe you should make more money.”
