I just go every day and despise every waking second of it. My daily routine M – F consists almost exclusively of Walk dog, Work, Walk dog again, Gym, Chores, Relax for One hour or work more, sleep. I don’t really enjoy a single second of any of those activities, in fact they’re fairly miserable. But skipping my workout and being mostly miserable + a fatass is probably even worse. I workout for 9 days, 1 day off, repeat. Average of 45 minutes each workout. I’ve done this for years with no exceptions other than rare stuff like injuries or sickness. I workout even when I’m staying in hotels, visiting relatives, etc. The trick is to reframe your brain to view working out as non-negotiable and something that takes priority over every other non-essential task, and as something that only has positive benefits. There are few things in life that are purely beneficial; working out is one of them. And I really look forward to listening, as I don’t play them at any other times. if you dislike the straightforward workout such as lifting, branch out into any sports hobby instead. Martial Arts, ball games., hockey, dancing etc. No fucking clue. I only have two kids, and one job. No dog, and still can’t manage to have time for such things. Have a goal. If you want it to mean something, set a goal. Reach it and slightly increase each time. I still have goals, but they are spread out over a year. I call them quotas as it’s the bare minimum that I want to get. Do it consistently to the point you miss it when you’re not doing it. I don’t workout when I’m away so that I can truly relax. The whole time I’m gone I miss it and can’t wait to get back and do it again. Find something that you actually love to do, something that’s more than a workout. I started martial arts as a way to get fit but I got addicted and now using it as a career. If you find something that you love, you’ll live to keep doing it. That’s what I think is the most admirable item of people in good shape, after the obvious physical form. Takes a lot to watch your diet and muster the focus The want and need to stay in shape and look good. It was way easier when I was a three sport athlete in high school playing soccer and running indoor track and field and outdoor track and field.
