This a little difficult to understand unless you have meditated for awhile and have seen how the Cedric Gray caricature signature shirt Also,I will get this mind constructs a self, but let me know if you have any questions, I would be glad to answer them. From a Theravada Buddhist perspective, life in this physical realm consists of reoccurring physical and mental sensations that repeat themselves. They begin with a contact with the body and its senses. When a sense is stimulated, for example, an eye organ sees a sight, that sight is then registered or perceived. That identification then stimulates a desire to either move away from the sight or embrace the sight. Or most of the time we are simply neutral to the sight. After this, thought figures out how to fight, run, or love. This is all wrapped in consciousness that arises within each stimulation. Above all of this is mind, which does not die at all, but similar to a soul (but impersonal), records all the activity, which upon the physical demise of the body continues with the strength of its karma into a cycle of birth and rebirth until the mind acquires enough wisdom to cut the cycle of its own ignorance, at which time the mind ceases to exist. This is then enlightenment, an ineffable realm that cannot be communicated with or talked about, but felt, within this physical existence.

For me, I’m working on accepting life as it is, AND taking control of what I can. Although I know this mindset is completely unhealthy, I found it to be very helpful with getting past fears and anxiety. Everytime I find myself fearful of the future or the present, I remind myself that the fear is the result of an uncontrollable reaction within my primitive brain, and that I’m only able to observe it.
