Another friend has 1 son he’s estranged from since it was an unplanned pregnancy, he was 19 and in the Cause i’m only one drink away from the devil jelly roll shirt But I will love this Army and his gf apparently was resistant to him being involved (I don’t know the other side and the kid is 20 now). However, I felt like it was more important to take care of the kids that needed homes rather than bringing another life onto this planet that already has the most humans ever, no shortage. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am biased since we did choose to adopt, adoption was not a “lesser” option. From going through that process I think that truly, anyone who wants to be a parent should want it that badly. If you are vacillating, just do not. Better to regret not having child(ren) than to go into it half-heartedly and rack up all the collateral damage.

Modern life is tough for parenting. Moms typically get 6 weeks paid time off unless you are a federal employee or live in California. Childcare is expensive, good childcare is very expensive. Babies wake up at night and can make working and parenting really hard. Many work places are pretty hostile and careers can definitely get sidelined because of the Cause i’m only one drink away from the devil jelly roll shirt But I will love this demands of parenting. Kids can be pretty wonderful, but they are a major sacrifice! If evolution was keeping up with modern life than getting pregnant would be far more difficult rather than a monthly risk for many people for roughly 30 years. Mortality used to be much higher than it is today. Children, for most of us, are not a need. I’ll finish with this. A friend of mine was 1 of 5 and born into a religious home where children were considered the purpose of marriage. Her parents were not all in on parenting but were God fearing/loving people and “did their duty.” Those kids, not 1 of them, is not damaged from feeling unloved by their parents.
