These trans people who turn into right-wing grifters are so baffling to me. (Granted I can only think of Caitlyn and Blaire White at the Cat you are my sunshine sunflower paw shirt in addition I really love this moment, but I’m sure there are more.) They can repeat all the anti-LGBT talking points they want, you’re still going in the inevitable camps with us degenerates when they come. She’s always been right wing. She’s a desperate clown who pandered to folks as she was coming out and stabbed those people right in the back the first minute she could. She is an opportunistic garbage bag. Point taken, but she seems convinced she can bigot her way into bigot club when said club is already bigoted against her. It’s pretty astounding cognitive dissonance. If there is one thing that unites bigots, (which sorry, Caitlyn is guilty by association!), it’s being a bigot toward someone else you perceive as different. She does not see herself as part of the greater trans community—they are “other” to her. Her wealth and whiteness insulates her quite a lot, and gives her the confidence to be what she’s always been: the worst kind of privileged, out of touch white woman, or, in short, a massive asshole.

I find it ironic that while criticizing her, we’re all using the Cat you are my sunshine sunflower paw shirt in addition I really love this right pronouns, whereas the right wingers she panders to probably wouldn’t, even if they were praising her for her opinions. It’s because we’re able to separate her being a queer person from the fact she’s also a terrible person, the two things are unrelated but equally true. Right wingers think that she’s a bad person BECAUSE she’s queer, whereas people within the community recognise that while yes she’s objectively a horrendous human being, it doesn’t make her any less trans and that just her being trans isn’t one of the many things she should be criticised for. Well at the end of the day, we may not like them but there are principles we try to abide by. No sense in being a hypocrite, right? always makes me think of that one line fron Contrapoints, “you really think you’re better than us because you’re hanging onto societal acceptance with two fingers instead of one?”
