Turns out, I thought about her for the Cat underestimate me that’ll be fun shirt and I will buy this next two days, to the point of bully myself because of how insignificant the interaction probably was to her. Questioning why it randomly occupied my mind for next couple of days. Meanwhile, I am a 29y/o good looking guy, whom should have no issue dating. This world is seriously fucked up in a major way. To be clear, I’m not blaming my problems on the world, just pointing out how deprived everyone is of genuine human contact. Girls often give each other compliments and sometimes I’m approached by random women who tell me I’ve got nice hair or stuff like that. It’s not regularly but it happens. We do actually avoid doing this to men because I think almost every woman has had an experience at least once where she was hit on just for being friendly. Often that leads to uncomfortable situations if not at least awkward ones. So better not tell that dude he’s got a cool jacket. It’s not worth that risk, you know? It sucks for both sides but that’s the reality. I once was complimented on something trivial, I smiled, said something to the effect of thanks and a bit more and moved on. I was behaving “ normally”. Later I realized, she was “interested” in me. So confusing. And kinda sad, but I’d rather not be perceived creepy than take any hints. It does suck.

That sounds like a repetitive cycle. Yep, but society has taught men that it’s somehow weird to compliment another man. That being said, it’s not like men never compliment each other. I guess it’s just not the same as appreciation from the opposite sex for some people. Like a reassurance from a teacher on an exam v the reassurance of a peer. One has higher standards sometimes because it’s the one that might matter more to that person. It’s not perceived, it literally is rejection. Not every man, and I’m willing to say MOST men don’t act that way. I’ve never seen any of my friends act anything like that. Finally, there’s plenty of responses in this thread of men dealing with the same thing from women but you ignore those because it doesn’t fit your narrative. You’re perpetuating this myth and then wondering why so many young men are depressed and commit suicide. How about we stop telling them that any woman they unsuccessfully hit on is going to be afraid of them? Most men have zero clue how to approach a women because every woman say “Just be confident, come over and say hi” but then when it happens and it’s not someone they’re attracted to i becomes “Can’t a girl just go out without getting hit on all the time? Men as such creepers!”. Can’t have your cake and eat it too.
