This immediately gave me a whole ton of associations. I’m intimately familiar with many a variation of production activities. I have a good idea about how much human life is invested into extracting, refining, forging all that iron, then creating molds and casting the Cancer Fighter Colorectal Cancer Awareness T-Shirt so you should to go to store and get this pilot pieces, working out the kinks, and finally producing the clean copy. So naturally, I’m a bit perplexed how a person knowing all that, spent a budget that can amount to a good chunk of a human’s life (let’s be honest, in some parts of the world it can easily amount to entire lives of multiple people or even an entire tribe, but I’m going to compare apples to apples and take that artist’s comrades, which would be Northern Europe, can’t remember exactly what, but my fuzzy memory tells me something about the Baltic sea, so Finland/Sweden/Poland/Latvia/Lithuania/Estonia, that region) just to produce such an installation. I also thought about all the cast iron stoves lost in junkyards or stored away in museum archives waiting to be studied and catalogued that could have easily taken their place and instead told a story of innovation, artistic ingenuity, and drive, from the times when manufacturing wood -burning stoves was way more significant and applying decorative freedom to them would be an act of defiance in face of the hardships that many of us would see today as total destitution. In the end, of course, it didn’t get the artist’s name immortalized with me, because I didn’t even care to remember it, though I’m pretty sure I took a photo, I’d just have to find it among the thousands of other photos I never look at. Anyway, eventually it was not sufficiently beautiful or emotionally engaging to warrant the amount of space equivalent to the room that houses an entire exhibition of late 19th/early 20th century photos of North America and Norway hosted at Bryggensmuseum, nor did it evoke any emotions except confusion: what am I looking at? Is it some kind of joke? Anyway. That’s it on stoves.

I was in Bergen, and went to the Cancer Fighter Colorectal Cancer Awareness T-Shirt so you should to go to store and get this Bergen Kunsthall and Kode Art Museum. Aside from the permanent exhibition, there was another work on display. It was called “Last Dance” and is very clearly an allusion to a prom dance. In the middle of a very spacious round hall is a giant artificial tree with no leaves that’s lit from the bottom by a perimeter of lightbulbs and is entirely covered with hanging white … stuff? Kind of like evoking imagery of dripping goop. The walls are lined with this “fish scale dress fabric” material that glitters, and somewhere to the side of the room is an aquarium featuring a floor of packed street dirt strewn with resin casts of used condoms (I can’t say if actual used condoms were utilized in production of the piece, but there’s nothing in the world that looks quite like a used condom, so you get the idea). To the other side is a small hallway leading to a space that can only be described as “public washroom”. Inside there is a pair of white wings hung up on the wall (beside the wall, but the idea that they’re hung up as if on a coat rack is very clearly conveyed).
