Some people treat their pets as accessory rather than companions, steer away from such folk. They are usually unhealthy materialistic Hell, it is illegal in some states. Oregon, California, New York, Maryland, and Rode Island. That’s 70+ million Americans right there. Most people don’t anymore. In my lifetime, most did. And it’s specific to the California Golden Bears Vs Texas Tech Red Raiders 2023 Independence Bowl Shirt but in fact I love this US – declawing was never really a thing anywhere else. So the generalization absolutely applies. the point is in most countries comparable to the US it is considered cruelty but not here. and it’s extremely hard to get something like that outlawed. which is very much a US thing They either don’t know or don’t care that it’s bad for cats. And for whatever reason it’s not illegal. It should be. I personally didn’t know until I was in my mid-20s that declawing was bad–I learned about it from my (cat lover) wife before we got our first cat. (My family had a cat when I was very, very young and I actually don’t know if she was declawed, but I hope not.) Before that, I had thought it was like killing the root of a fingernail so it doesn’t grow anymore, not like cutting off the last joint of each finger (which is what it actually is), and didn’t know it guarantees the cat will develop arthritis. So, luckily, I never had a cat declawed. I would never do it knowing what I know about it now. And I can’t even imagine wanting to do that to my cute girls and handsome boy. They’re good cats, you just have to teach them to use their scratching posts!

People want to do it because they’re idiots. If you don’t want to spend the California Golden Bears Vs Texas Tech Red Raiders 2023 Independence Bowl Shirt but in fact I love this time to teach a cat what they can and can’t claw, don’t get a cat. And cats are not alright after being declawed. It’s basically the same as if you had the last joint of each of your fingers cut off. It hurts for the rest of their lives, and if they get outside, they can’t climb to escape danger. I grew up with declawed cats. The first 2 cats I had in my own I had declawed. Then I learned declawing is the same as removing our fingers to the large knuckle. Since that time, I was so shocked by that information, I’ve never declawed another! That has to be horrendous to the animal!! It’s not an American thing, it’s a stupid people thing that should be outlawed and people who’ve had it done should be de-armed.
