The right lane is often times too hectic with people merging onto the highway, also lots of big slow semis, and more debris or hazards on the right shoulder. Right lane should be avoided at all costs due to these reasons. And if someone comes up behind you in the left lane just move over and let them pass. CT has lefthand exits (brilliant, right?), so if I’m going 65 in the left lane it’s because my exit is in half a mile. I’ve got two kids under the age of 5 in the backseat, so I’m not going 80mph just so you can get your Toyata Echo with the mustang engine and 18″ rims to Golden Corral 2 minutes faster, just CHILL THE FUCK OUT LOGAN I live in a small city with only 7 urban exits. I enter the freeway and merge into the passing lane and follow the car in front of me a safe distance until I am past the urban exits where people need room to merge on and off the interstate and then I drive in the right lane until I need to pass someone. To me that is safer and the only reason I can think of to drive in the passing lane when not passing. ‘Refuse’ implies that somebody is asking a person to leave the passing lane. In reality, that’s not happening and will lead to many poor responses as people will follow the framing of the question being asked. Went left to pass someone, zoned out or not paying attention behind me or just don’t care enough to move back to the right.

I find that people who get pissed about this are usually horrible drivers because they have the mindset that “this person is blocking MY road” instead of “I should control my speed to adapt to traffic conditions.” If the road is not busy, I keep right, but this is usually only the case late at night.
