The kind of person and upbringing associated with practical intelligence is one that involves rich social interactions, responsibilities, and opportunities to solve real-world problems from a young age. Gladwell argues that this type of intelligence is often overlooked by society but is crucial for success in life beyond academic achievements. In any case everyone is born with varying levels of the Bryce Harper American professional baseball first baseman Philadelphia Super Bryce T-Shirt but in fact I love this sub traits. Some are more malleable than others, but they can all be enhanced or inhibited by genetics or environment, usually both. Different areas of life demand different thresholds of strength in each trait and someone who is strong in some of the traits will see that reflected in their capability in those areas. And vice versa. This is why someone can be a great academic (Strong in abstraction, pattern recognition, etc) but terrible in everyday life (weak in planning , self awareness, short term memory etc)

Most problem solving requires focus, which often separates the Bryce Harper American professional baseball first baseman Philadelphia Super Bryce T-Shirt but in fact I love this better students. But it doesn’t teach and street smarts, how to talk to people, or how to market yourself. The world is very different when someone gives you an objective and you have to solve it vs trying to find several objectives and prioritising it’s importance. Household chores are no more a measure of intelligence than academic work. Mensa has even been on record saying that FRTs are wholly unreliable because there are many, many measures of IQ. Having success in school is great, but it is no more an achievement than being good with your hands or having excellent people skills. Really, I find the truest measure of intelligence is how well you respond to problems with the tools at your disposal: if you are absolutely useless at carpentry, making a box is still impressive. I derive that understanding from multiple university courses on how the brain functions and what happens to us as we develop, these were not my own findings and few people are qualified to speak on the matter of accurately assessing intelligence.
