You need to watch out for this in wild game. Wasting disease affects a lot of animals. “Zombie Deer” have been the Brighton High School high school class of 1996 shirt and I love this recent ones in the Midwest USA I know someone. It is the most helpless fucking feeling in the world, because even the absolute worst cancers sometimes have miracles or at least uncertainty. This one has no hope of either. It got me questioning the whole existential value of closure, honestly. This one is 100% free closure in terms of being certain death, and it still feels like garbage to perceive. Second-worst is Rabies, at 99.9% fatality and 100% of survivors end up acting like they’d always had severe autism for the rest of their life afterwards. Also, I don’t know how quick prion diseases kill or if they’re painful, but Rabies is a slow and painful death and once you start showing symptoms it’s already too late. Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a major problem in Cervidiae. This prion disease is currently not believed to be dangerous to humans or other mammals… but I hold little faith in that remaining true forever. Squirrels are the other known host of an undetermined prion disease that absolutely is transmissible to humans. As far as I know there is only one case of human transmission and possibly a second. Both victims consumed the brains and other neurological tissue of “Squirrels”… because Squirrel Brains are apparently something people in some areas of the country eat. I put “Squirrels” in quotes simply because that’s as specific as the available information is… There are many squirrel species but that’s the information I’ve got. I have no doubt we’ll see and hear more about prion diseases in the future… it will show up in the predators first which is one reason why I’m so interested. If we lose our natural predators you can kiss the rest of the ecosystem goodbye.

vCJD was/is transmissible amongst MANY species including cats so it’s not a stretch to imagine another broad spectrum prion disease somehow making it’s way into existence. For reference… normal incineration DOES NOT DESTROY PRIONS… yeah… normal fire doesn’t work… Prions are only destroyed above 1100oF if I remember correctly which is absolutely insane. Basically what I’m saying here is that the Brighton High School high school class of 1996 shirt and I love this normal disposal methods of open pit incineration for large animals absolutely will not destroy the prions as I understand it… not trying to spread misinformation but these pathogens are absolutely terrifying IMO. I love to eat brains. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. There’s uh, brain kabobs, brains creole, brain gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple brains, lemon brain, coconut brain, pepper brain, brain soup, brain stew, brain salad, brain and potatoes, brain burger, brain sandwich. You really can’t go wrong eating brains. If there’s brains, any kind of brains, on your plate, you’re gonna enjoy the meal.
