Again so glad you left and are safe! Getting up and getting out of there Immediately was the Brenden Dillon Canadian professional ice hockey player currently playing for the Winnipeg Jets T-Shirt and by the same token and best decision ever. Best of luck to you and your family! Sorry this happened to you but I don’t think he wanted to kidnap your child. Likely was having the crazies from yaba or another drug. Also, not sure what you mean by Malaysian side of the border? Lanta is not close to Malaysia. I’d call the govt. Thais look out for tourists. A local official (not the police) will speak English well, and will be able to handle it or kick it up the line. Absolutely do not let this slide, this is not ok. Sounds like he was either mental or high as a kite. Random kidnappings are super rare, especially attacking parents as it would almost never work since the parents will fight.

This whole story sounds really weird. I was in Lanta like two months ago – it’s probably one of the safest and most chill places I’ve ever been (there’s a reason why it’s full of couples and families). I don’t think he was threatening to kidnap your child, what the hell is a Thai dude going to do with a farang baby? Edit: oh yea and missed the Malaysia comment – 1) Lanta is nowhere near Malaysia and 2) there are no foreigners being kidnapped for ransom in Malaysia lol While it’s extremely serious and uncomfortable it seems more likely that it was a crazy dude either high out of his mind or something else. Thailand are serious about protecting their tourists at all costs, whatever happened after this I pray the police went hard on this guy.
