My husband’s grandfather lied about his age in order to fight in WW2. He said he was 17 despite being 12. He was in the Brendan Lemieux American-born Canadian professional ice hockey left winger T-Shirt also I will do this Navy as well, working as a deck hand that helped install ammunition & such. He passed away in 2012. I don’t believe he won any medals or anything but we have interesting picket signs my husband & his aunt & dad held up during the Veteran’s parade that year with his Navy picture on it. Alright I get taking him out of the service but to strip him of his medals that he rightfully deserved for putting his life on the line is crazy. Like come on bruh I personally think medals should be kept as the boy or adult used his life changed for them though he lied about age. “Dear mom, summer camp is a lot of fun. There is a lot of Japhappenings. My good friend was killed thrilled right before my eyes. I’ve earned lots of medals badges.

Nothing happen to the Brendan Lemieux American-born Canadian professional ice hockey left winger T-Shirt also I will do this mom? Cuz you know her son was missing for that long to fight a war and she just thought he went out for milk. To discourage other young boys from thinking they can be honored heroes too, they don’t want to encourage child soldiers. Thing is, he’d already earned those medals through valorous service, as a disabled combat vet myself, I am disgusted by her vitriol. She only wanted to see him suffer more It was the military who stripped his medals, for PR reasons. They can’t admit they enlisted a child and are cool with it. Why would you jump to thinking she wanted her son to “suffer more” before thinking a mother might not want her 12 year old child to be at war? Veterans already come home fucked and forgetting… imagine adding betrayal and years of survivor’s guilt and PTSD with no recognition of what brought you to that point. War is hell but so is coming home and being discarded. What fucking betrayal? He was 12, his mother calling attention to that ain’t a betrayal, the government letting a 12 year old get shipped to war is the betrayal you lunatic. Did you read what was written or simply jump off the high dive into the abyss? And yes, after seeing what I’ve seen, and doing what I did… I am a lunatic but be grateful no one “with their good intentions” (such as having no clue where their son is whilst he fights in a war… I digress) decided to have my access to mental health professionals removed and every medal I earned in hell taken from me, leaving my broken and destitute. Heaven forbid he would’ve had: VA, GI Bill, and housing loan that could’ve aided his troubled life. But you know, lunacy and what not.
