In your position, I would not agree to anything. Continue doing your current job. If they want you to do a director’s job, you get a director title and director pay. I had a company pull this crap on me last year promising increased pay that I knew from seeing others in similar roles wouldn’t come for at least three years. I found a new job in a couple months that paid way above the Brandon Moreno Poster Mexican Champion Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this increase I would have waited years for. I would say no I’m not taking on more responsibility without a raise they are counting on you you’re the one with leverage Give them a timeline like you’re allowed 8 weeks to fully train me in my duties and responsibilities by then I want a pay raise of XYZ% (you will be able to determine how much work your actually doing and may actually lead to better negotiation for yourself) and title change.

Tell them you want a commitment to a timeline. In so-and-so many days, you expect to be given such-and-such title and such-and-such salary, and get it in writing, signed by CIO and HR. Typically, a timeline for this would be 30, 60, or (rarely) 90 days. As long as you have a contractual agreement guaranteeing it, with explicitly stated job responsibilities so they can’t just say, “well you didn’t do good enough”, you’ve got a pretty good guarantee that you’ll get your due. And if not, you can involve a lawyer… So make sure you have a copy of the Brandon Moreno Poster Mexican Champion Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this contract. One more thing: DO NOT assume any new responsibilities or duties until you have the agreement signed. If you do, you’ll never get it. This is, almost word for word, exactly what I went through a couple of years ago. They will see you doing work for free and see no incentive to pay you more or give you the official title. This was the worst year of my life, I cried nearly every day and when I spoke to the interim manager about it, her exact words were “Well I’m not stressed, I just don’t let my job get to me”. I never got any thanks for the year I spent as an invisible team lead and eventually transferred to a better department. I know your experience may not mirror mine, but please think long and hard about this.

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
