No, you just said something really embarrassing and we were pretending to misunderstand to give you a chance to save face. I read the Brain and Steamboat Willie mashup shirt also I will do this comments and many people seem to feel that way, so may I ask if, as a neurotypical person, there is something I can do to make it easier? If you think you’ve misinterpreted something, stop interpreting it and consider if the exact meaning of the words makes sense If someone uses a weird synonym, it was probably the only one they could think of while trying to keep up with the conversation Trying to maintain eye contact can be very distracting, you’ll get better answers if you stop thinking it’s ‘rude not to make eye contact. And conversely, someone may be paying more attention to what you’re saying if it doesn’t look like they are If someone says they’re interested in something, don’t diminish it, just accept it and move on, but showing too much interest can result in having a 5 hour conversation about the deepest parts of the lore If you see someone with a carer, and the carer is clearly ignoring them and playing on their phone, please say something because they are being paid to look after that person and should be paying attention If someone looks overdressed, it’s possibly to do with sensory issues, and if they’re wearing headphones, they aren’t saying you can’t talk to them, but they’re probably just blocking out the background noise

Often things like coats and body warmers are warn by those with special needs before of the Brain and Steamboat Willie mashup shirt also I will do this pressure it puts on the body, and that pressure can relieve stress. You can get light weight vests which strap on with velcro that provide a similar pressure but aren’t hot and cumbersome. One of my colleagues found this out when a little boy took her glasses off and threw them across the cloakroom. This is often correct, but sometimes the carer is simply pretending to pay less attention, but is fully looking after the person, the person just doesn’t like the constant attention. It’s something everyone deals with at times I think. Those on the spectrum may just more prone to winding up in these situations because we don’t adhere to the same standards in terms of how you’re suppossed to utilize body language and vocal inflection while talking in order to convey meaning. Feeling uncomfortable with eye contact could lead people to think you’re lying for example, but really all it means it that, generally, looking people in the eye feels wrong to you. Basically, its a situation where so-called body language experts are critically failing at reading someone because they don’t realize these aren’t universal standards and wind up misinterpreting the situation without knowing it.
