The chant originated from the 2008 NBA Finals, when the Celtics were facing off against the rival Los Angeles Lakers. During the pivotal Game 3, as the Celtics were cruising to a victory, the crowd began to chant, “Whose car we gonna take?” The chant was a playful jab at the Lakers, who were known for their luxurious lifestyles. It quickly caught on, becoming a staple of Celtics lore.
