There is no justifiable reason not to do the Books Are My Love Language shirt moreover I love this job title and pay increase immediately. They are the ones who fired your boss without securing a replacement, and they are the ones currently in a bind. They are being dicks by telling you rather than asking you. I see ugly red flags everywhere. Get it everything in writing. Get clear success criteria to get the title and pay. Get clear details of the new pay upfront Get a very clearly documented timeline. At a minimum get the title immediately or don’t take it I took this and a year later the COO hired his son in law as the new VP above me and was “shocked” when I gave my notice If you don’t want it, kindly turn it down thank them for consideration but say you are “happy where you are.” Brace for possible fallout or some one else you work with getting that offer you might not want leading you. (Ex: In The Office, Dwight getting the call for interim manager after Jim turns it down… lol) IF you want it, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING. And have them specify what the time table and/or goals/markers you need to hit to get the raise so it isn’t some theoretical bs offer with no time table or goal. If you agree to the terms, go for it! Good luck!

fuck that, I used to work somewhere that promised me something like that. Instead I spent nearly 3 years doing 2 jobs for the Books Are My Love Language shirt moreover I love this pay I was getting for the 1. Never again will I let myself be taken advantage like that again, I would suggest you don’t either. Big shit sandwich. Take the title change, take some work for a bit, then job hop because now you’re worth more. Play it smart like someone else and get a promise of a pay raise after x, y, z goals are met. I wouldn’t even bother with the promise pay increase if your workload doesn’t change. Take the title and job hop in a bit. Don’t tell anyone how long you had that title though. What is comfortable? These things must be explicitly defined and measurable or they’re not goals at all. Sounds like your leadership needs training. Where I’m from (Ontario, Canada) the employer unilaterally changing your job without your agreement is considered constructive dismissal. If you leave the job, it’s considered the same as you being fired and you can get employment insurance.
