Less and less new experiences (there’s a reason most adults don’t still do karate), pattern recognition increases (more predictability), world becomes smaller as we settle into habits (gym, work, grocery store, same bars ect), societal pressure to never be comfortable and always looking for the next bragging right (promotion, new house, new partner ect) leading to dissatisfaction with current successes to name just a few. I can tell you that life was incredibly exciting while my wife and I were in Europe. When you are very young, you’re life has been very short. Everything is new and therefore is memorable. Once you’re a working adult, everything tends to blur together. I can pretty much promise you that if you were rich and able to chase new experiences frequently, it wouldn’t feel that way. If I could spend 6 months in every country I’m interested in, I can guarantee I would reach old age before I got bored.

Life is supposed to move through phases where you take on new responsibilities. If you live your life like you are perpetually 15, then it is going to grow less and less exciting as you age. I would be lying if I said those weren’t the best years of my life. But an even more exciting and colorful part of life is the mid to late twenties. All of the freedom + money to actually enjoy that freedom. So many life changes, full independence, and the ability to explore all that life has to offer even more.
