Nevermind that pi below like 35 sig figs is not physically meaningful anymore. There might be a rounding issue! My best guess is that they are giving an example of how changing the BLOODY MERCENARY Movie Shirt it is in the first place but value of a constant effects the system as a whole. Considering they’re calculating volume, this is a word problem, and the formula is provided, I’m guessing this is a physics class, not a geometry class. I’m just guessing though. Changing the value of PI can do some wonky things to calculations, so pi would be a great example of this. You calculate everything without rounding, and then use as many significant figures for the result as the starting variable with the least significant figures. In this case 1 (5). Then you write the result as : 5*103.

This way the BLOODY MERCENARY Movie Shirt it is in the first place but result can never be more accurate than the least accurate starting value. For example when somebody says a distance is 6 miles, it’s not accurate to say it’s 9.656km. It would need to be 6.000 miles for it to be 9.656km or it would just be 1*10km As a statistician, impossible precision in estimates in everyday life drives me nuts. My husband looooves those hour-by-hour forecasts where it tells you it’s going to rain at 2:45. Without Jeff Buckley introducing it to a new generation of artists, I’m sure he wouldn’t have covered it! (And before Jeff, John Cale Inspired many. Jeff himself found it from a Cohen tribute album) In physics you would have to round since you otherwise would imply that you can measure the volume that precisely.

1. Length is measured from the highest point on the collar down to the bottom hem. 2. Width is measured across the body of the shirt under the armpits, one way. 3. Sleeves are measured from center back to hem.
