If all you do is read a book, then book after book, seminar after seminar, but don’t actually do the Blood-Curdling Tales From The Crypt Fear-Filled T-Shirt in contrast I will get this hard work of sitting and stilling the breath, then you have no experience on the subject. You can read a hundred books about how to play tennis, but sooner or later you have to get out on the court and actually DO it. I rarely comment on this thread because it is full of well-intentioned individuals who are not doing the actual work, and filling the thread full of all sorts of nonsense and folderol. It’s supposed to be like this. You have to do the work of consciousness and most people aren’t willing, and come up with every excuse under the sun, to not pick *one* viable pathway, and go after it with all their heart and soul.

Look to yourself, not others, and focus on that. Its best to just shut up, and focus on your practice. Other people’s egos don’t concern you. “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.” I do agree that there are some pretty misinformed questions as well as answers here. Reason being, it helps me to process and envision what is going on during meditation. Concepts like emptiness and no-mind may seem contradictory to scientific evidence, but it’s helpful framing to get a general sense of the process. If I were to delve too deeply into the science underlying meditation, I would become preoccupied with trying to understand it and end up actually getting little out of it.
