Don’t have headphones in and have a hat rather than a hood so you can be warm but not restrict your line of sight. Don’t be waving around any valuables. Keep your phone in your closed pocket or bag. If you have a bag it would ideally be something you wear across your body rather than a backpack so you can keep it close. If you have valuables sticking out of your pocket or backpack, it’s easy for a petty thief. Walk in well lit areas, on the Black History Month 247365 African American T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this pavement walk in the direction against the traffic ie the cars are driving towards you. Then you won’t have any cars come up behind you unseen. Walk purposefully and don’t stop to talk to people. Just carry on without breaking stride, a quick and firm no thanks, or sorry I’m busy, if you feel you have to say anything.

Know your local area, walk around during the Black History Month 247365 African American T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this day with someone so you know where the streets all end up, where the shops are, where is open late. If you feel concerned then you know where you can turn off without getting lost, or know which shop you can get inside. If it makes you feel more confident you can purchase a personal alarm which will emit a loud noise when triggered. Some phone apps also have this feature. For what it’s worth, London is pretty safe and 10pm isnt really late. Tube stations tend to be in busy areas where there are plenty of witnesses, so they aren’t common places for serious crimes. Petty theft is everywhere, it’s no more or less likely at 10pm than any other time. Serious crimes against strangers are very rare, you are statistically very unlikely to experience it. Although I appreciate that sometimes the logic doesn’t make you feel better. regarding headphones, I feel like the best approach is to always have them on but just pause the music/turn them off for extra awareness if you feel like you need it. the plausible deniability of ignoring someone because you supposedly didn’t hear them goes a long way. in my experience people tend to hassle you more if you obviously intentionally ignore them, not so much if you just keep walking whilst wearing big headphones
