She even stops fist fights and gets people to not press charges. Similar strategy. She goes to see “what’s up”. Even the fights, her team usually convinces people that if they just wanna hug it out and take an ice pack instead of file a police report, they can just go back to their seats. They really do need to be permanently placed in facilities, but they refuse treatment and there is no money to pay for long term treatment even is they do accept. The people who are invested in making the line go up do not see a profit in making sure these fellow humans are taken care of and given the help they need, so it doesn’t happen. They underfund what services there are, and when they ‘dont work’, they cut them entirely. There’s also issues with people complaining about human rights abuses when it comes to forcibly putting people into treatment, as if it’s more humane to let people die covered in their own piss in the street. That says nothing about those who refuse treatment, which is a very common issue with the most mentally unstable homeless.
