In fact, if you want to learn a skilled trade, you could find a job with a pension and great benefits.

Look at retraining into a trade. Yes you’ll tack on more debt, but a 2 year technical degree in something like machine operator, drafter, etc pay well and are in high demand (and pay between 20-35/hour). Maybe you need a job that does some outside, physical labor.
