“You simply overturn the Behind Every Well Behaved Nino Is A Mother Holding A Chancla Shirt Apart from…,I will love this will of millions of voters, and end democracy as it has stood for over 200 years, despite no evidence of fraud and bam – there you have it, constitutionally-elected Trump.” Republicans: “We must preserve the Electoral College. It protects the rights of the people in the smaller states.” Also Republicans: “When the people in the smaller states don’t vote the way we want we must ignore the Electoral College and overturn their vote.” “All we have to do is make enough people doubt the elections that nobody accepts the results and we have a civil war! Totally legal, totally cool. Show me one place in the Constitution where it says we can’t just overthrow the government.” “If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.”—David Frum The scary thing is that there is a version of their scheme that is technically legal. If the Republicans hold majorities in the House and Senate in 2024, they can object to and toss aside any Electoral Votes they don’t like. The election would then go to the House where the Republicans – with the majority of state delegations – would be able to appoint the Republican candidate as President. This would be technically legal as the Congress has the ability to object to Electoral Votes and any elections where a candidate doesn’t get a majority of Electoral Votes gets decided by the House. In the short term, we can protect against this by making sure the Republicans don’t control both chambers of Congress (aka Vote Blue). In the long term, we need some serious changes to our system to prevent this or any similar schemes from happening.

Yea. People I think fail to realize the Behind Every Well Behaved Nino Is A Mother Holding A Chancla Shirt Apart from…,I will love this reason the whole Republican Party wasn’t on board for this was simply because they didn’t have the votes. The horrifying images of January 6th get everyone’s attention. However the far more nefarious act was taking place inside congress. Like… Yeah, there’s a provision… that it’s theoretically possible, but the incumbent losing the election and refusing to accept reality is not a reason to exercise that shit. People doubt that election because Trump said so without providing an ounce of credible evidence anywhere, other than… “Well, I was in the lead for a few hours after the polls close, but then they didn’t stop counting votes as the night went on.”
