Hope to pass on to grandkids if I have any One day, randomly, there was a Sacagawea gold dollar on my dryer. When I pay thirteen dollars for a sandwich I feel like it’s important that I also be able to brain a yak with the weight of the money I spent. Always thought these were the greatest. As a kid a big shiny “gold” coin is worth a ton more than a nasty paper dollar They should promote the end of the penny instead, and have every price end in a 5 or 0. The penny is absolute garbage. It’s really stupid why we don’t have dollar or even $5 coins. I get to travel to other countries and in most locations, you don’t need paper money to buy small items at a convenience store as they have coins that go up to about the $5 equivalent. Meaning that you can buy most things w/pocket change. Paper (or cotton/linen mix that dollars are printed on) does not last as long as coins making coins a far cheaper way for us to represent money than paper bills. I tried to use these at a Five Guys in 2018- the cashier brought the manager out, who refused me because they’d never heard of them before, therefore it wasn’t real money. The thing is, coins are really annoying to carry around. They were a cool novelty, but no one wanted to carry around a coin when they could carry a dollar bill. If it was standard in the US for purchases to come out to an even dollar amount (e.g if tax were included in the price) then these might have done better
