Around 2014/15 I used to love going to Yongsan . It was such a great crazy dystopian vibe. I was back a few weeks ago but only had time to walk through the Becky Lynch The Man an Irish professional wrestler T-Shirt moreover I will buy this camera hall of IPark mall. Have the rest of those big electronics centres gone or are the still there? Ah, people selling things on subways. I remember finding it obnoxious at the time….it’s strange the things you suddenly realize you miss. I left in the fall but it was really sad to see how covid decimated everything. Myeongdong used to be the spot to be and now it’s a ghost town (but rebuilding I heard). All the fun itaewon and hongdae spots closed down and rebranded to accommodate a bunch of image-conscious Koreans that want to shut other people out, which sucked as well. Lost some great foreign restaurants, and I think the overall fear of foreigners during the pandemic and those moments of not letting people into gyms and restaurants really turned a lot of Koreans and foreigners against each other. Koreans were so rude and entitled to scold foreigners or mistreat them. I lived that many times in 2021-2022 while never before. And I am one of those foreigners who loved the country for its real culture…

I couldn’t imagine Hongdae with more foot traffic but personally the change is great and I love how more walkable it has become Vloggers/streamers: With the growth of platforms such as Twitch and Youtube, you’ll see more people streaming than before in the wild vs just having to tune in to Afreeca. You won’t see them everywhere but you catch some more frequently compared to a decade ago.
