Saw one in a small city in mekong, was like seing a turtle out of it shell (bike being charged) It was so lonely. Actually the subscription model is a good deal in Vietnam because it lowers the initial price, and the customers don’t have to deal with battery degradation over time; but may be not as good in the US due to inefficiency of marketing and sentimental prejudice towards the subscription

With the Vietnam interest rate, you could actually take that 20-40% of the price, then put it into a bank saving account, and use the earning interest to pay the monthly fee. For this process, you can still make a little profit (inflation included).
