Honestly at this point they should just privatize the Be Strong Be Courageous Be Inclusive Be Kind T-Shirt and by the same token and system. Even a minimum wage contribution level to a typical index fund 401k provides like 1.5x the payout of the minimum SSI. The system just doesn’t work well and the kneejerk reaction against privatization just isn’t founded in any logic. Holy shit. I remember them talking about this being a possibility in the 2000s, but fuck. The USA fucking sucks If it makes you feel better, it’s been a talking point since 1939. It’s still here and it’s still the largest amount of money allocated out of the budget each year. Headlines like this just stir up fear for ad revenue. Educate yourself on how it works and shit like this won’t bother you. Hilarious that they expect everyone to pay into something that they aren’t guaranteed to have when they are older. I can save on my own for retirement, don’t need the government doing that for me. Covid-19 would’ve thin the herd, but the government stepped in and printed more money and made everything much worse for the younger generations… If you’re under the age of 40, I would plan accordingly for social security not being around and wisely invest your money.

As soon as they find an excuse they can use to blame it on dems and they have all 3 branches + the Be Strong Be Courageous Be Inclusive Be Kind T-Shirt and by the same token and Supreme Court, you can count on it being dead. They increased SS benefits last January at about 9% due to high inflation/cost of living in 2022. I’m sure that moved the insolvency goal post closer by a year or so. Imagine if inflation stays stubborn by another couple of years and doesn’t come down to Fed’s 2% target. Good bye 100% SS benefits for Gen X and younger generations. We will definitely not have SS if we elect people who want to cut SS. I wish people would pay attention to what their elected officials were doing. Close the tax loopholes corporations and the rich use to escape paying their fair share. Followed by reducing the military budget by at least a third, probably closer to half, and suddenly social security has plenty of money to work with. A guy can dream at least.
