I do this from time to time. However, if I’m slower than other people want to go in the left lane and if the number 2 lane is not at a dead crawl, I get over. How I figure it is that I’m taking the path of least resistance, which feels safest and most efficient when you do a lot of driving in high traffic areas. But I also did a lot of driving in Europe, so I respectfully get over if other cars in the left lane want to drive faster than me. Judge me if you want! the only time i linger in the left hand lane is at night time when the road is mostly empty. Even then ill gladly move out of the way of hyper speeders. i will not incriminate myself on my speed average incase of law enforcement.

The reason i do it? Simple. i live in deer country and those dumb mother f@#$@s will jump right out of tall grass/treelines and run right into my car which would total it or potentially kill me at high speeds. I want every bit of advanced warning i can get to avoid them or any other significantly large wild life. Got passed a couple times and think “oh shit! I’m getting passed, I should get over!”
