You get paid for actual hours worked, not the Baltimore Ravens Grinch I Like Dogs And Ravens And Maybe 3 People Christmas Winter Holiday Season Shirt but in fact I love this difference between your clock in and clock out time. Billing software is programmed to accommodate for hour shifts like that. But if a particular workplace doesn’t use a tool that does it automatically, the managers will communicate how to log it to get paid properly. Unless a manger has said otherwise, you’re off when the clock says you’re off. If that’s 2AM, you’re working the extra hour, because it doesn’t get to 2AM until you’ve been through 1AM twice. (On the flipside, you’re out an hour early when the clock shifts the other way). Maybe when it’s done right. I worked overnight a place that because the hour would cause overtime, yes, they would not pay that hour and when the time switched back you’d get pay for the hour you didn’t work. I have never worked one single place that did things correctly. Not in every industry though. I’ve been working in health for 20 years and we get paid to what the clock says. Swings and roundabouts with the extra hour vs the hour less, supposed to work out even in the long run.

That may be your experience, but it was certainly not legal for an employer to pay less than the Baltimore Ravens Grinch I Like Dogs And Ravens And Maybe 3 People Christmas Winter Holiday Season Shirt but in fact I love this hours worked. The US department of labor is very clear on this. If I wasn’t getting paid to do that I wouldn’t be doing it. “Evens out”? How the hell they know if you’re scheduled to work the spring forward to make up for the loss? Try being on nights on a navy ship coming back from deployment… time shift happens every night at 0200 and for 8 days in a row you get to work an extra hour lol, ’tis BULLSHIT One time it happened over the DST shift, and I had to work 2 extra hours for free lmao, that shit was the worst Happens on cruise ships and long distance yachts too when heading across the date line. Instead of doing a massive shift once you cross the date line they change the time and hour a day until your in the correct time zone of your destination. It’s rather brutal but still better then a sudden 8+ change. It also means that your sunrises and sunsets are roughly in the right place in the day and not out of wack. The ship always keeps local time, and it crosses time zones on average every day when it’s steaming back. In truth it’s not 8 straight days, but where we are in theater is 8 hours ahead of EST, so there are 8 days of going back an hour. In my grandpa’s days on a cargo ship, on the days they crossed timezone borders, each of the three watches would adjust the ship’s clock by 20 minutes instead of just one watch getting their shift extended by the full hour Sounds like your gramps worked for people whose mission in life wasn’t to just completely shit all over everybody that worked for them
