It’s how Republicans outlaw protests. They make “camping” on public land illegal so they can arrest protesters and charge them with camping. I’m ok with this as long as an alternative is provided. Why not use some of that govt owned land to setup some pod style accommodation? You could even have the pods automatically lock themselves between certain time periods to ensure that they’re only used at night for sleeping and no more. For sanitation, make them self cleaning similar to the way existing self cleaning public toilets work. Now you’ve got an automated system that provides somewhere safe/warm to sleep, that requires little to no maintenance, and keeps homeless people out of your parks, private property etc. Not gonna lie. I’ve always thought the USA was fucked but learning a few weeks ago that it’s actually illegal to be homeless in a lot of states just made my head hurt.
