Because the Baby Yoda and Stitch Amazon shirt but in fact I love this returns are better than earning a few percent interest a year that is taxable. Yes, the market will be around. Are you going to retire in 100 years? Don’t have much of a choice really. My pension is automatically put into the market and banks give zero interest or interest at least lower than inflation so traditional saving isn’t viable. Super fund can’t access until a certain age. Yes where I live it’s the most likely to grow. Real estate is unaffordable for many. Even the deposit on a shoebox is out of reach for many. So leaves super, asx and etf to plan for a retirement if that eventuates. Because real estate relies on the real estate market, is not passive (ie, you have to do work to keep it in good condition), and put all your assets in one very small place. The odds of a single property loosing 20% of its value for several years is much higher than the odds of the s&p 500 loosing 20% of its values for several years.

The only reason the Baby Yoda and Stitch Amazon shirt but in fact I love this stock market would collapse is the collapse of the economy as we know it. Either a complete communist take over seizing private assets (so any asset is useless) or some apocalypse situation destroying civilisation as we know it (in which case many other assets will also be pretty meaningless, if you’re even alive). And you didn’t even mention property taxes either. Buying and selling fees, interest on mortgage, fees on mortgage, etc. No stock market would suggest some massive revolution in the functioning of the state. If that happens you have greater problems than how you investment in Apple is doing. Mostly because our options are Stock Market or work until death…land of the free.Summer for me is usually a pair of white sneakers. Fall is Blundstones. I wear my Birkenstocks Bostons all year!
