Yeah my granny has one in Loughborough. It was such a fun feature as children to serve through. Don’t think it gets used anymore. Just bought a house, untouched since the Awesome i am the master of the wicket shirt moreover I will buy this 1970s… complete with serving hatch. Used for mostly passing brews to the other half We had one in our last house, built in the 1980s. We turned the room that was supposed to be the dining room into the TV room, so we didn’t need it, and when we redecorated, we got rid of it. Nah, but I’ve also stayed extensively in the north west like Ullapool up to Durness and haven’t seen one there. Rare to have in Victorian or Croft housing My gran had one in her house. I used to love climbing My gran had one in her house. I used to love climbing through it when I was a young’un. Yep. Parents had it covered years ago but when I was young, our sofa was right behind it and the amount of times I got smacked in the head by that thing… A serving hatch? We had one at my parents house but they for some reason decided to fill it in sometime in the 90s In my childhood home I did, and then I moved into a rented house and it was the same layout as my childhood home so it did as well, never seen one in anyone else’s home though.

My parents had one put in our house back in the Awesome i am the master of the wicket shirt moreover I will buy this 90s. I loved it so much, it had little doors on. The council came round and knocked the whole wall down some years later. Our house did growing up and all the houses on our estate did in the early 80s. The streets look fantastic in old photos, but years of random extensions and dodgy facades have turned the whole estate into a mess. It’s actually quite rough now and I think the ruined aesthetic has played a part in its decline. First the serving hatches go, then the dodgy extensions come, then the work vans parked everywhere, next thing you know you’re living in a shithole. My patents still have one and use it all the time! I know they’re not cool the days but it actually is really handy. My house (60s) had one but I had it filled in as I wanted to put the TV in front of it. Next door have kept theirs but I think they just use it as a shelf. The houses are tiny so it doesn’t save much time passing stuff through it rather than walking round!
