I had to force down a lot of the food. Sometimes its not the fact that you’re full that you don’t wanna eat, its more because you don’t have an appetite. Anyway, this thing where parents force their children to behave and finish their meals is something that you mostly see in Asian and African household, and our obesity rate is still lower by a huge margin. Whenever my parents forced me to eat something it was always vegetables. (still don’t like vegetables, but I do finish everything on my plate) The idea behind it often comes from a good place, parents wanting to make sure their kids are getting enough nutrition. But you’re right, the way it’s done can sometimes be a bit much. It’s important for kids to learn about listening to their bodies and understanding when they’re full. Forcing them to eat beyond that point might not be the best way to teach those lessons. And you raise a great point about snacks. It’s true that sometimes what’s available can be loaded with sugar and all sorts of stuff. It’s not the kids’ fault for liking those things, they’re designed to be super appealing! Maybe there’s a middle ground where we can help kids make good choices without making them feel guilty about wanting something tasty.

It was like that at my aunt and uncle’s house. My mom would only make me sit there about 20 or 30 minutes more and then drop it when she realized I really wasn’t going to eat more. My uncle would not let us leave. I am not a big eater, so I would get my cousin to eat mine too so we could get up. Sometimes I wonder if that’s why she’s always been big. In my house we’re not doing that shit. Because children refuse to try something new. Once there were 4 people (2 adults and 2 children) needed for me to eat a piece of melon. I absolutely love melon so I’m not sure why I refused, but that was deffinitly a one time thing. Yeah that’s not really gonna work. My understanding is that kids can’t always relate cortisol to lack of sleep or hunger. You are literal having to force them to sleep when they are tired. Or force them to eat to not get distracted.
