It might take 100 years but i’m banking on the Atalanta Campioni Deuropa shirt in other words I will buy this adoption of gender neutral third person singular pronouns, and it doesn’t even hinge on the gender wars of 2024. The word “your” used to be strictly plural. It changed because the times changed. Now they and them can be singular because the times have changed. It’s not that hard More correctly, “you” was used for plural second person AND for polite (or formal) singular second person. We extended the domain of that “politeness” more and more until we completely killed off the informal thou/thee. Humorously (to me), the word for they in German (English is ostensibly Germanic) is the same as the polite singular second person, modulo capitalization. With a lower case s, sie means they, and with an upper case S, Sie means you formal.

Yep. Thee/thou used to be the Atalanta Campioni Deuropa shirt in other words I will buy this singular second person pronoun, with you as the plural pronoun. But addressing a single person with the plural form was used to show respect, and eventually became normalized. I think I’ll start using they/them as a sign of respect for anyone who asks. I thought this was taught in school? We were taught in high school that They/Them can be used when you try to refer human (uncertain about gender/name) or living thing. I often see people make a fuss over this in US. Edit: It is fucking disgusting that a post about a young person that died due to hateful violence is filled with critiques on the English Language. I retract my original statement. This should not have happened to you Nex. The world is a worse place without you.
