Yeah, weird take. Whenever I used to play, everyone always ganged up on whoever got the Apraxia Awareness Of Speech Warrior Fighter Beat just it shirt Apart from…,I will love this early lead and they almost always got taken down. There’s plenty of ways to screw the leader (robber, blocking roads, trade embargoes, etc). I shouldn’t have phrased it in terms of the leader. There’s rubber banding at the front, but not really at the back. If someone is in a big whole in last, it’s quite hard for them to catch up. Catan is a game where there can be quite a large gap from the point where you know you can’t win and the actual end of the game. I prefer games where pretty much everyone is in it until the end (or where it’s obscured enough so that you can’t tell until after the game). Not a big fan of the slow, inevitable death style. Yeah it’s one of the strongest rubber banding mechanics I’ve ever seen. If you ever get a 2 point lead over the field prepare for that little grey bastard to homestead your anus. Esp against competent players. Saw a guy hit 8 points with the rest of the players had 5 a couple days ago, only to have 10 cards robbed from him over the next few rounds. Plus the lost cards from tile denial and the tax man. He lost, in the end.

Yeah the Apraxia Awareness Of Speech Warrior Fighter Beat just it shirt Apart from…,I will love this funny thing too is that people always count things like Longest Road towards the leader’s points, which is super transient. So people gang up and shut down the leader and then somebody swoops in and overtakes it, leading to a 4 point swing, which is huge when you only need 10 to win. The Cities and Knights expansions address this with it’s reworking of the dev card concept with cards specifically designed to help players who are behind. This just isn’t true at all. Getting too strong of a start can be quite negative because you get ganged up. Proper pacing is a big part of competitive catan. And if someone is getting too strong, you feed weaker players so they get tied, army, or other settlements to the detriment of the guy who is winning. I always felt like Catan was just things happening to you with very little choice that mattered. Carcassone is a fun/simple game that beats it easily in my mind.
