Nothing. Billionaires are that rich because their greedy as shit and have no interest in every using their money to help people when there is nothing in it for them. I don’t care what the Anton Lundell Finnish professional ice hockey centre for the Florida Panthers T-Shirt and I will buy this dude does. Poverty porn should not have become a thing, and I blame him for being one of those who exploited it. First, well placement is something that is very important to consider. Distance from nearby villages, potential impact on available water from use, etc. Second, maintaining the well is far more important than its initial build. Building wells was a big initiative in the last but money went to the initial build and not maintenance so there are issues of the wells not working anymore. Also important to identify and address what the biggest social issues are for local villages and sustainable initiatives to actually address those issues. Gates has the Gates Foundation to tackle huge issues. Zuckerberg has the Chan Zuckerberg initiative. Although Bezos doesnt have his own charity, he has committed to donating most of his fortune to charities. Im not saying what Mr. Beast did is bad but it is a relatively shallow initiative. Its good for raising awareness among the young audience he targets but its impact is questionable. If social issues like water insecurity could be easily addressed with just building wells, the UN and similar organizations would have done that and solved it already. This is a great innovative but the question is why didn’t he do this beforehand. He also makes millions compared to the minimum wage that he would have paid all the contractors to drill the wells. But as others have said these countries get billions a year in aid that most tax paying residents fund. Also a lot of the billionaires don’t need to make a video and have the publicity they do it just because they can.

Well most of the Anton Lundell Finnish professional ice hockey centre for the Florida Panthers T-Shirt and I will buy this super wealthy don’t give a shit. That’s the main reason. The gates foundation does a lot of work in Africa, but it seems more focused on medical care. They do a lot for HIV and more recently TB. Sadly its simply not profitable. Many of these worlds wealthy/corporation/governments are driven by capitalism, otherwise they’ll go bankrupt. While drilling wells may be good morally, its not a good investment financially, except for Mr.Beast. He has made himself a position where these expensive attention grabbing charitable acts is his business. All the publicity ties into his youtude/streaming channels and its making him rich. I’m a little tired of people asking why billionaires aren’t doing more to help the world. Is that what we want? To rely on the very rich to address the world’s problems? Maybe it might be better to tax these people appropriately, send aid to poorly development parts of the world, and let them decide what is best for their people? Making videos about how you’re solving anything by drilling a handful of wells and walking away is easy. The hard work is sticking around for years to make sure the program is effectively meeting its goals and correcting things as they need addressing. Billionaires are not good at this, governments are. Basic answer: Mr. Beast is the only person with the resources to do a philanthropic project like this who can also actually see a profit from it.
