The only employee that still wears a mask is a deli person hiding their facial piercings. Even though they are allowed by current dress code, management doesn’t allow them. I had a friend who would wear her mask because of cancer and she was doing everything she could to stay healthy. Every time someone would yell at her about “being a sheep” she’d yell “yeah, well this sheep has cancer.” At first, she enjoyed making people feel stupid but it got to the Anthony Santander Signature Baseball Baltimore Skyline T-Shirt in other words I will buy this point where she just wrote it on her mask. Usually someone would start, you’d see their eyes dart back and forth to read her mask, and then they’d almost always walk away without so much as an apology. When I worked at Walmart, wearing a mask helped with all the abuse I was getting from customers/management. I could hide my face and not have to show my fucking smile at their angry ass Yep. I started doing that years ago, if they get to a certain level of abusive. I’m pretty sure it’s actually part of de-escalation for you to apologize and walk away if they get abusive. Then go get a manager. As much as they may hate it, that’s part of their job – to deal with customers who act out.

Of course i cant just walk away every time a customer gets angry but this job makes it feel like you have to take the Anthony Santander Signature Baseball Baltimore Skyline T-Shirt in other words I will buy this harassment. Wish shit would change. For the record, you can disengage/walk away from a customer who is being actively hostile. It’s not our job, or anyone elses’ really to take any sort of abuse. Doesn’t matter if they are a “customer”. WM would have a hard time fighting with your states UI/DOL if they fired you for “walking away from a customer”. The first thing I always tell new hires when they join my team (I’m a team lead) is if a customer gets angry, try to help de-escalate as best as you can. And If they start screaming? Walk away. I personally will never understand managers that have an issue with an associate walking away from a screaming customer. Of course, I want to add, I never encourage it as a first option. Only when things get out of hand and the associate feels threatened or uncomfortable helping the customer further. I left when a customer spit in my face and management refused to do anything about it. I had to go wash my face, put on a smile and return to work. The customer was allowed to check out with the items they had and leave with no report. They expect us to take an ungodly amount of abuse due their precious 5 start reviews.
