Lol it was our local person who ghosted us. It was such a shitty experience. We switched companies immediately. My ex husband and I had a fund set up for our kids college funds, opened the Anthony Richardson American football quarterback For Indianapolis Cartoon T-Shirt and by the same token and fund when they were little and he insisted on taking it over and making all the deposits when we divorced, the kids were 18 months and 3 years old at the time. I brought it up over the years and was reassured he was making the monthly payments. I had no reason not to believe him. I asked him repeatedly and offered to help, he said he wanted to do it and it would make him feel good, that it was his responsibility. 15 years later, I ask him to forward me the accounts so I could have the first disbursement made to my oldest’s college of choice. He sent me an email, forwarded from the funds website, showing the total of one account at almost 90k, and the other at close to 75k. I gave him the information to send the first payment to the school and forgot about it. I did some reverse searching via the email address he forwarded (it was a legit fund, he somehow altered the content of the email) and contacted someone there, proved I was the parent of the students in question, and was able to get login credentials. So I ended up paying for 8 years combined, for 2 students, of college and university out of pocket, out of each paycheck. Not to mention living expenses. Alk my retirement savings. I can’t even tally the number without getting angry. Set back my own retirement by I don’t even know how long, but I couldn’t have my kids go into massive student loan debt. Had he not lied to me, I would have been saving for it myself. At least the younger one had time to apply for scholarships.

The real final kicker is that initial payment made, that had been collecting compounding interest over 15 years? He made my daughter give it to him. Then he cleaned out my son’s savings account that he had access to. Most expensive? A routine hysterectomy & cholecystectomy that was over $50k after all was said & done. I had a fibroid that would not stop growing & was the Anthony Richardson American football quarterback For Indianapolis Cartoon T-Shirt and by the same token and size of an infant’s head by the time it was removed. I kept putting it off so I could save up enough PTO to take the time off in case there were complications. I did the authorizations for surgery for a bit. I had a pt who was a nurse schedule her laparoscopic cholecystectomy without insurance. I called her and asked if she know how expensive they were. She was like ‘it’ll be fine, it’s not that big of a surgery.’ ‘Miss, it’s $30k.’ She rescheduled. I also am the surgical tech. Like why did she think it wasn’t a big deal?! I’m just all up in your guts, lifting your liver out of the way! I had to assist someone burning your gallbladder off the underside of your liver! It’s a whole thing!
