Interview done. There are so many things wrong with this answer that if you can’t identify even one of them, I don’t want you on my team. Red flag city. Anyone who mentions “money” or “for the Andrew Nembhard Basketball Player Canadian Of Indiana Pacers T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this money” is an outright idiot and doesn’t deserve the job in the first place. The question isn’t “why do you want *a* job?” It’s why do you want *this job*? Something made you apply to this job over some others. I would NOT recommend lying about your capabilities in an interview as that can come back to bite you, but if they are asking a stupid question like “why do you want to work here?” Just lie. The question is intended to gage your social and communication skills. In order to be capable to represent the company positively you should be able to represent yourself. There’s nothing unique or interesting about your response. While you may believe it shows honesty, it could be perceived as showing thoughtlessness and potentially displaying traits of narcissism where you believe yourself to be ethically superior to others. As a hiring manager I go through approximately 100 applications for a single opening. I assume that 100% of those applicants want to earn as much money as possible. With your answer „let‘s be honest, I want the money“ you are not edgy, you are stating the obvious. I don‘t have time to listen to someone that tells me the obvious. Next.

Because if money is your only motivation, you will fly the Andrew Nembhard Basketball Player Canadian Of Indiana Pacers T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this coop the minute a better offer comes along. Also, you’d be surprised at how much more money isn’t the motivator you think it is. It’s great to make a lot but if your colleagues and manager are awful, if you don’t like the work, if the job doesn’t allow you to have a life etc. you can be demotivated no matter how much you make. Let me ask you, if you had two job offers that paid the exact same amount, but one was in a career path where you enjoy the work and the other is in a career path where you don’t enjoy the work, which would you pick? The money thing is obvious and understood. Its like being asked ‘why do you eat pizza’ and answering ‘because i have to eat to live’. Its true but its not all, and further more, you don’t need to bring that up at that moment. Everyone understands you need to eat to live. We are wanting to know why you want the pizza. So, to escape the metaphor and back to the question, you want the job because it moves you along in your career path while still being able to support your lifestyle.
