I knew a bloke who would get really pissed off every time you’d refer to the Andre Burakovsky Swedish professional ice hockey forward for the Seattle Kraken T-Shirt besides I will buy this Johnny Cash version of Hurt as the original. Which is hilarious because a) they’re both amazing songs and b) Trent Reznor said “yeah that’s his song now” after hearing the cover. Honestly i find it interesting when this stuff happens. Sometimes the vover just becomes the song and nobody thinks about the original, like gangsta’s paradise or talk dirty to me for example. I think we are seeing this live now with manneskin’s cover of somebody told me. I think a lot of people will say the first version they heard was the cover, and probably a lot of people didn’t bother looking for the og, or didn’t even know it was a cover. Eventually people will be surprised that somebody told me is a cover, just like gangsta’s paradise

My little brother thought Disturbed’s cover of “Land of Confusion” was the Andre Burakovsky Swedish professional ice hockey forward for the Seattle Kraken T-Shirt besides I will buy this original, I made him listen to the Genesis song and he said it sucked and they stole from Disturbed No one gonna mention that “Mad World” by Gary Jules is a cover? Its the only version i heard until the original popped on my spotify 2 years ago. Its actually by Tears of Fears and goddamn the energy is very different between the two! Going from “wow what a sad song” to “wth is this upbeat theme i love it” gave me whiplash. I mean, sometimes the cover artist doesn’t exactly go out if their way to give original credit, like the current case with Valhalla Calling by Miracle of Sound! I remember when everyone was trying to shit on young kids getting into Kate Bush because Running Up That Hill was on Stranger Things, and I had thought it was a Placebo song the whole time
