I lack this from Swedish as well. We have ”snart” which sounds similar where the American professional baseball pitcher for the Cleveland Guardians signature logan allen stripes T-Shirt in other words I will buy this timeframe depends on the context, ”strax” which would be max 30 minutes or so and ”en kvart” which is a quarter of an hour but roughly so 5-25 min or so. We have “straks” in Dutch, with approximately the same meaning. So fun to see it’s written strax in Swedish, because that’s how my friends and I used to write it for fun. I could liken this to ‘Shortly’ in English. ‘I’m leaving the house shortly’ …. ‘I will arrive shortly’ – Shortly could be five minutes or several hours. Forgive me for the following rambling and potential bastardisation of an unfamiliar language, I only know a very small amount of Spanish but ‘Ahorita’ makes me think ‘ahora’ – now and ‘ita’- little? Small? I might be waaaay off with that of course. But ‘ahorita’ sounds like a minimisation or vaguery of ‘now’ in a similar way to how ‘shortly’ sounds like a vaguery of ‘short’, as in a short timeframe, not ‘now’ probably ‘soon’ but potentially a longer, undefined period of time.

A Spanish friend of mine used say there was a phrase that meant, ‘I’m going to do fuck all’, that translated as, ‘I’m going to do what comes out of my arse’. That reminds of “Cada quien hace de su culo un restaurante” which could translate to, “Anyone can make a restaurant out of their ass” or something like that. Basically means that you don’t give af about what anyone else does. It like “Wanna get some coffee?” Just “Fika” is more opened to what you want. And I don’t like coffee so this line dose not work for me. :p Fun fact: “Fika” sounds very much like the American professional baseball pitcher for the Cleveland Guardians signature logan allen stripes T-Shirt in other words I will buy this Italian slang for female genitals, so when Ikea introduced “Fika” to us it was veeeery funny! Was about to comment on that. In fact when u/Mean_bug_200 wrote “Fika is more opened” I snorted from laughing… Fika is so needed in my company it’s in the global, company wide onboarding material. We just can’t function without the word. In Swedish we have ”olla” which means to touch something with the tip och the penis. We have a similar for women as well ”snigla” which is related to the word for snails. Hallelujah, the Dutch aren’t the only ones weird enough to have a dedicated word for that “swaffelen”… somehow it rare gets used in civil conversation though 🤔
