You don’t just build one town, after you suceed, you get currencies to upgrade tech trees, unlocking new boosts/buildings/features and them you’re onto your next town. Really fun GP loop. At least as far asi’ve gone every, idk, 20 in game years a huge storm comes and resets the Always be yourself unless you can be frankenstein then wreck everything T-Shirt and by the same token and board, so it’s like a rogue like in a way… kind of. It merges a bunch of ideas in a fitting and cool way. Oh and the devs look really active, this doesn’t look like one of those “Forever on early access” type of games. Really easy to learn and understand, but not necessarily too easy (i’ve only went as far as “normal” difficulty, it feels fairly balanced.

The October 2004 edition of the Always be yourself unless you can be frankenstein then wreck everything T-Shirt and by the same token and official UK Playstation magazine had a Top 100 Best PS2 Games list and included a demo disc for classic games and the then-upcoming Jak 3. I decided to wait a year later to see an updated version but it was mostly about Peter’s Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Movie Of The Game. It came with a demo disc, which included SoulCalibur III, letting you play as Kilik and make a custom fighter. It was fast, fun and it was so stylish. I bought the game itself in the summer of 2006 and it opened me up the complex world, characters and lore of SoulCalibur and it didn’t had guest fighters. Unexpected gem of a game. For an early access this game is incredibly well polished and has lots of replayability. Excited to see where it goes. There is a glut of city builders recently that all have the same problem – complete lack of goals. The way those games usually go is you struggle in the beginning to build a sustainable and functional settlement, and after that the only thing left to keep growing it until you get bored or restart. Against the Storm seems to have been designed specifically to address the late game tedium of city builders, and I love it.
