It’s not Australia it’s 2 people but there are thousands more like them but millions that are not . The same as any other country or race. They are mouth breathing assholes who are in the minority thankfully. This sounds like the “but only a few of the police are bad apples.” If you enable racists by turning a blind eye to the racism around you, I feel like you’re actually worse than the people being openly racist. Not much worse, but worse nonetheless. As a brown skinned immigrant who grew up in Australia through the 90s, I didn’t realise how racist we were as a nation until I lived and worked overseas. We still have a way to go to understand what racism truly is and how it can manifest itself unknowingly, even sometimes where there is good intentions.

I’m brown and migrated here as a child in the All The Damn Vampires Interview With The Vampire shirt But I will love this 1980s. What are you talking about?? ….. We’re one of the great immigrant nations of the world. How many other countries are as ethnically mixed as us? Canada, UK and maybe US. There was a global study done years ago about racial prejudices with the question being “how comfortable would you be if your neighbour was of another race”. Australia ranked amongst the least racist. China and India amongst the worst. We’re not perfect but no way are we this racist pot that reddit thinks we are. Not even close If you’ve not experienced racism as a brown person growing up in Australia then kudos to you. It’s casual racism in Australia that’s more common, and less of the racism driven out of genuine dislike (which is more relevant to the question you stated). And perhaps I should have been clearer to say that my original comment was in relation to other comparable Western countries (UK, Canada and US). Having spent a lot of time in those countries, we have a way to go (except for maybe the US where maturity around racism varies significantly depending on where you are).
