Water entering the wound hurt like hell We told him some lie, and I wound up wearing 2 sets of socks on that foot for a while because it hurt too much to wear shoes without a lot of cushion Had this big purple knot on the side of my foot for what felt like years, and if the inside of my foot hit something just right it was agonizing I told my dad when I was in my teens, and he scoffed, so I showed him the scar. He was a Vietnam vet and has been shot and seen plenty of wounds and he just shook his head and said “damn boy” Just thought I’d throw this out there, carry a few tampons in your first aid kits as they’re apparently great for gunshot/penetrative wounds. My classmate in high school was shot in the back by his father, he said that at first he thought he was hit with a hammer or something sharp, until he turned and saw the gun. Pellet rifle. I was bent over picking up a can at 10 years old. Sister shot me. Entered through my right collar bone down into my right lung. I remember the heat of blood more than anything. 30 years later its still in there.

He said to me shortly before he died that it feels like a burning needle going through your body for a split second and going away slowly and that the pain was worst later. He didn’t go into anymore detail on what happened later but I wouldn’t want him to because he suffered from severe PTSD. Great man though I was “Dick-Cheney’d.” Shot by a shotgun, bird shot. A lot of it and all over. Imagine standing shirtless in a heavy hail storm. But hot. No pain after I was shot. Had a headache later. Still have a ton of shot in me and I can’t get an MRI now. Was shot on my lower leg, it got stuck on my tibia. I first remember feeling an external body inside my leg and not being able to move it. The initial impact was not so painful, I’d say it was worse in ER when it started tickling and the blood started coagulating. The worst of all was having to walk a week later I honestly didn’t realize what had happened until I started seeing the blood running down my clothes. I heard the bang but don’t remember feeling anything.
