Just cause your daddy was a farmer doesn’t entitle you to be one. Nor does being a farmer mean you are good at it. You could be failing like every other bad business owner or there. I’m not entitled to be a furniture store owner just because my daddy was one. I have to run my business right and maintain it. I think an important thing to note here is that it is a family business generally. And yes poorly run businesses are destined to fail. But the challenge is there’s so much consolidation on both the input side and. On the market side like in livestock. The farmer and the consumer in the grocery store are the losers at the end of the day. I’m not entitled to run our farm and be successful but I sure as fuck should be entitled to have fair markets to both buy and sell in and u don’t. So let’s expand that discussion beyond an easy out and address some pretty big glaring issues in agriculture, one of the biggest in my eyes being that lack of a fair market

My dad owned a furniture store, and both myself and my brother both own stores now as well. It’s family business here too. I agree there is a lack of fair market, we lack that fair market in many areas in business too. But sometimes even with fair market, failure is an option.
