No it doesn’t. Iq tests are quackery, so even in fields where intelligence is required they are a bad metric to filter for I always test above 120 but I’m dyslexic and can’t spell basic words sometimes, I have a terrible memory for names, form numbers, emails, phone numbers, basically anything written and arbitrary. Relatable. I have a reasonably high IQ while also having several neurodivergencies/disabilities that make me the Adult Daycare Director Aka The Bartender shirt in contrast I will get this slowest goddamn learner in the world with a random assortment of skills that other people can master in a day, dyscalculia being a high ranking one in these, and I also have a chronic mental health condition that gives me the memory capacity of a broken hard drive from the mid-90s. (There’s a lot of work I could be doing and doing well, though, it’s just that these jobs are not hiring per IQ and having a blank CV at 32 doesn’t exactly make me a great candidate.)

Honestly, an IQ based hiring process might help me if I actually maintained my old score (very high, but people don’t like when I say it). That being said, I also have ADHD, apparently high functioning autism, and my memory sucks most of the Adult Daycare Director Aka The Bartender shirt in contrast I will get this time. After dealing with plenty of genuinely stupid people, i can certainly understand why people would agree with using any method that promises smarter coworkers. Whether or not IQ tests can deliver on that promise is dubious. It’s incredibly doubtful. My IQ well above 115, had to get it tested when they were putting me in the gifted classes in school, and I can promise that a work place full of mes would be chaotic with every task being procrastinated and no one wanting to stay one one project do people think that measures of intelligence are the sole requirement for getting a job with soft skills on the backburner?
