Because people are uneducated and ignorant. Add to that a lack of situational awareness and you’ve got your answer. Almost every year more people are killed in automobile collisions than by firearms. People don’t realize the Adley Hugs Member Baseball Shirt and I love this massive responsibility that comes with driving a vehicle. Driving age should be higher than 16 in my opinion. No reason you can’t be in the left lane of you are going 10 over the limit. Anyone that can pass you is likely pushing 20mph+ over. A lot of people dont actually know the driving laws. Like with a lot of information, they only memorized it long enough to pass the test. I’ve never been that person but I recently bought a Tesla and the auto drive feature maxes out at 80. So, it’s either I drive in the right lane and get stuck behind someone doing 55 or stay in the left.

In Europe, it tends to be left lane = going fastest, right lane = going slowest. You can always pass someone on their left, but not on their right. Also, holding up the Adley Hugs Member Baseball Shirt and I love this left lane is a DICK move. You’re free to use the left lane, but you better go at least the speed limit. I get distracted by Reddit on my phone and YouTube on my dash-mounted iPad. Sorry about that. Just give me a friendly honk. What about the HOV lane? I started driving with my wife to work and we take the HOV lane now. Is it considered a passing lane? Is it OK for someone on the HOV to go a bit slower than the passing lane? Depends, on a two lane highway with lots of exits, I go 70+ and keep the right lane clear for merging. If 70mph isn’t fast enough, tough shit. Mind you this is 55mph limit. Having ridden with someone like this and questioned him on it, he said “left lane is for passing, but you can stay in it if you need to keep driving fast, like if you’re in a hurry”. There weren’t a whole lot of cars and he was treating it like having to change lanes would be a horrible hassle (even when we literally passed signs abt how cops were enforcing left lane misuse). I didn’t have my license so he thought I was being naive for…knowing the law lol I was talking with a coworker about how “if they’re passing you on the right, you’re doing it wrong” and an older client present said “I just pick a lane I like and everyone else can go around me” What really annoys me is when someone gets in the carpool lane and then drives slower than non-HOV lanes, forcing all the other carpoolers, who should get the bonus of driving faster, to drive below the speed of traffic. It’s not like you’re obligated to drive in the carpool lane if you have 2+ passengers. Driving faster is your reward for carpooling!
