Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition. It is not a personality, or a genetic lottery for crystallized intelligence. It is not a pretty package of idiosyncrasies. It is a neurodevelopmental condition. That’s it. Plenty of autistic people are bad at STEM. plenty of allistic ppl are brilliant without autism. I’m not sure what the Actors In Quantum Leap shirt and by the same token and recent obsession in conflating the two is. I’m not sure if you’ve worked in many STEM heavy environments, but I work in a huge research organization and the proportion of people who are “neurodivergent” is much higher than I’ve seen in any other areas. That’s probably why they’re being conflated, because anecdotally, it rings true. Well damn, I’ve been diagnosed recently, and flunked pre-calc hard this semester. I even fail at being autistic, I guess. Watch as Dr Fox Ryker handles medical emergencies, uncovers alien conspiracies, and sits down by swinging his leg over the back of the chair.

I AM A SURGEON I AM A SURGEON I AM A SURGEON I AM A SURGEON I AM A SURGEON I AM A SURGEON I AM A SURGEON I AM A SURGEON It’s an American remake of a Korean show, and I personally thought the Actors In Quantum Leap shirt and by the same token and Korean version was really good! There’s another good Korean show about an autistic lawyer (Extraordinary Attorney Woo Youngwoo, I think that’s what it’s called I’m not sure what it’s called in English) and there’s also a slightly older show about mental illness called It’s Okay, That’s Love which deals with things like bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety which I thought they handled very well. The problem is there is a huge amount of variation among autistic folk. It’s a better show if you stop looking at Shaun as a representative of autism, but rather as a person with unique quirks, foibles, and idiosyncrasies, some of which are connected to autism. Some of these shows legitimately will be looked back on 50 years from now the same way we look at Song of the South today
